Reiki is an ancient Tibetan healing modality that was rediscovered in Japan during the 1800's
by Dr. Mikao Usui. The Japanese word "Rei" means Universal Life and "Ki" means life force. When one's
life force is blocked or depleted through physical, emotional, or environmental stress, the body and mind can become more
vulnerable to illness.
During a Reiki session, the client lies prone
and fully clothed on a massage table or sits comfortably in a chair. The Reiki practitioner quietly guides healing energy
to the client using a light touch, or without touching if the client prefers, while beautiful music plays softly in the background.
Reiki sessions last about 60 minutes and are calming and restorative.
Reiki
should be used as a complement to, not a substitute for, one's regular allopathic medical or wellness program.
